University of Jos
The University of Jos (UNIJOS) chapter of the union has risen from its marathon meeting with a resolution to pitch tent with their colleagues. But it, however, noted that the decision takes effect from today.
Its chairman, Dr. Christopher Piwuna, the decision to join today was taken in cognisance of ongoing examinations at the institution.
A member, who craved anonymity, told The Guardian that they had to take the painful decision to join the struggle. Some faculties and departments, according to him, had finished their examinations while the last lap was to hold today.
It was gathered that the anticipated strike forced the faculties and departments to adjust their timetables to avoid being enmeshed in the imbroglio.
A lecturer added that the exercise was to cover three weeks but had to be collapsed into a little over one week.
A student said they had to adjust not minding the fact that there was time constraint for adequate preparation for the examinations. He urged the examiners to factor in the unexpected scenario.
