Founder of FSD, Omowale Ogunrinde, said entrepreneurship would take Nigeria out of recession if government accords it the required attention.

Field of Skills and Dreams (FSD), a vocational training institute, has said entrepreneurship would reduce vices in the country and create a better generation of young Nigerians.

Founder of FSD, Omowale Ogunrinde, said entrepreneurship would take Nigeria out of recession if government accords it the required attention.

She added that the country has reached a point where youths were willing to by create wealth through their own businesses and become employers of labour but that they need encouragement.

Ogunrinde described entrepreneurship as the solution to the current economic challenges facing the country, adding that its partnership with Nagode Foundation was to train 20 young entrepreneurs with professional skills, start up funds and equipment to set up their businesses.

She noted that the participants would be trained in fashion, hairdressing, electrical installation and cake making for six weeks.

She said the institute was open to students of 19 years and above for training in vocational, technical and entrepreneurial skills.

“Since the establishment of the institute in May 2013, it has partnered sponsors and foundations to equip young people with the needed skills and equipment to either start a business of their own or get a paid employment.”

“The institute had ensured that the students did not just acquire the skills, but also teach others, make a living and contribute to the nation’s economic growth,” she added.

Chief Operating Officer of Nagode Foundation, Sandeep Kapoor, said the public and private sectors have failed in tapping into the entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians in spite of having a viable workforce.
