• Air chief condemns social media’s role
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has cautioned religious and political leaders against hate speeches and incitements.He gave the warning yesterday at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House, Ilorin.
The governor said such speeches could overheat the polity, adding that constructive criticism for improved governance must be separated from incitements to move the state forward.
On the outstanding salaries at local councils’ level, Ahmed challenged serving members of the Transition Implementation Committees (TIC) and prospective council chairmen to show capacity to generate revenues.
Also, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Ado disclosed that hate speeches would be treated as terrorism, in line with the directive of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the National Economic Council Security Summit in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has condemned the use of social media to spread falsehood and promote hate speeches in the country.
