Nollywood’s latest family comedy, My Wife And I, was premiered in Lekki, Lagos, last weekend. The movie, which will hit the cinemas on August 25, 2017, was written by Chinaza Onuzo and directed by Bunmi Ajakaiye.
My Wife And I sees the return of Ramsey Noah and Omoni Oboli as a couple, almost a decade after the duo’s brilliant display in Kunle Afolayan’s a 2009 supernatural suspense thriller film, Figurine.
It tells the tales of the ‘Fun dad’ Toyosi (Ramsey Nouah) and ‘Tiger Mum’ Ebere (Omoni Oboli), an unhappily married couple on the verge of divorce after Toyosi was accused of causing the family’s misfortune for losing millions of naira to a failed project and Ebere is regularly called a failure by her husband for rejecting an offer from a multinational oil and gas company.
Each of them is convinced that the other is the reason for the collapse of their marriage. For the sake of their twin teenagers they gave birth to after a brief flirt that resulted into pregnancy and which latter made them get married and at the advice of their parents, they decide to give their marriage one last chance after a visit to a famous Pastor, Pastor Theophilus (Seyi Law)
After the counselling, they somehow wake up in each other’s bodies. Unable to switch back, Toyosi and Ebere are forced to masquerade as each other until a solution can be found.
The Inkblot and Filmone First Collaborative Effort movie features other top names in Nollywood such as Ngozi Nwosu, Jemima Osunde, Dozie Onyiriuka, Sambasa Nzeribe, Bolanle Ninalowo, among several others.
My Wife And I achieved prior success after it secured an international release date of September 15, 2017, in South Africa. This feat is a pointer that the movie has so much to offer, even as it has commenced screening in cinemas nationwide.
