9to5chick, a career development platform which aims to create opportunities for professional women to thrive through learning, networking and skill development, this month launched its Power Breakfast Series, a savvy career development mixer with highly esteemed and successful professionals who are committed to empowering the next generation of career women. True to the platform’s commitment to ensure high-level attendance at the Series, the keynote speech at its maiden edition was given by Aishah Ahmad, (CFA, CAIA), Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth at Diamond Bank and Chairperson WimBiz.
According to Mrs Ahmad: “I had a great time connecting with these ambitious millennial women, as we discussed a host of subjects. As a 9to5 chick myself, I have a passion to see women advance.”
Mrs. Ahmad’s key note speech focused on various career development topics such as strategies for intentional career growth, networking and career management tips, how to communicate effectively, how to manage a difficult boss, how to be a team player while standing out in the workplace amongst other important career development topics. She also shared her career development story with all in attendance and gave key insights on how women can navigate the career ladder while still retaining a balanced career life.
Attendees at the workshop also got the chance to share current challenges being experienced in their respective careers and received practical steps from Mrs. Ahmad on how some of these challenges may be solved.
Participants praised 9to5chick for both creating this platform and for also setting up a conduit between up and coming professionals and established career women such as Ahamd, as this would facilitate learning and mentorship opportunities.
Other participants also commented on the open and personal atmosphere of the Series and how this was vital to their learning experience. Many also thanked Mrs. Ahmad for the interpersonal nature of her keynote speech which led to real depth and sharing by all who attended.
