This year, we have seen some amazing gadgets released both locally and internationally, and best believe that more awesome gadgets are yet to come. These phones will give you a reason to start saving up in preparation for them.
Here are the phones set to be released in the coming weeks:
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Galaxy S8)
You've probably heard that Samsung may drop the Note family, following the disastrous Note 7, but forget that nonsense. Note 8 will be announced at an Unpacked event on the 23rd of August. It is expected that the phone's specifications will include a 6.3in Quad-HD SuperAMOLED screen with S Pen support, 6GB RAM, a dual camera for the first time on a Samsung flagship (premium phone), waterproofing, and the Snapdragon 835 processor. For customers who want a compant, but high-performance smartphone, it is rumoured that the Galaxy S8 mini with 5.3in screen, Snapdragon 840 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and an iris scanner is being developed in Korea. ALso anticipated are the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy X.
Apple iPhone 8 (or iPhone Edition, or iPhone X, or whatever it will be called)
Apple is set to go big on the iPhone's 10th anniversary this year with the release of a new phone that will make up for the minor upgrade that 2017 brought. There will be a combination of hardware and design changes and a lot of speculation has been made about how the new iPhone would look and its specifications. It is rumoured that the new iPhone will resemble a single sheet of glass with an edge-to-edge OLED screen. Other rumoured upgrades to the new iPhone include wireless charging, facial recognition or iris scanning, and the Apple A11 processor and motion co-processor which will make it super fast. The new iPhone will certainly launch beside an iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, but everyone is harping on the iPhone 8. Google Pixel 2
The first Google phone was so good, the anticipation for the second one is keeping people on their toes, especially those who claim not to like using iPhones. (We see you!) The next Google phones (Pixel 2 and Pixel XL2) are said to include waterproofing, a much better camera, a curved screen and the Snapdragon 836 processor. The difference between the two phones will be the screen size and resolution, and the RAM, with the Pixel 2 having a 4.97in full-HD panel with 4GB of RAM and Pixel XL2 having a 5.99in Quad-HD screen with 6Gb of Ram. The new phone will also be the first to run Android O. The second generation Pixel phones will not, however, be available until late-September/early-October 2017 alongside the final version of the Android O release.
Nokia 9
Nokia 8, which was launched yesterday, is expected to go on sale in September, although the Nokia 9 which is expected to be the more exciting of the two has not had a release date announced yet. Nokia 9, which is thought to be the flagship in Nokia's Android phone family, will likely run the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 GPU, with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, features a "Bothie" camera that captures the full picture by combining front 13Mp and rear dual-13Mp camera, a 360-degree Ozo audio recording, 5.7in 18:9 display screen, Ip54 waterproofing, a fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, and a 3500 to 3800 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support, including the other features from Nokia 8. Nokia Android phones are loved for their premium design and build quality, monthly security dates, Google Assistant and so on. These phones will be no different.
