NIM President and Chairman of Council, Professor Munzali Jibril, said this year’s competition is a pilot edition for the new repackaged and rejuvenated programme with the intention to expand its scope, duration and participants.

The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered, has said its Young Managers’ Competition (YMC) has been elevated to a reality television show. The YMC, one of the institute’s contributions to youth development, is open to young managers between the ages of 25 and 40 years.

Speaking at the finals of the 2017 edition in Lagos, NIM President and Chairman of Council, Professor Munzali Jibril, said this year’s competition is a pilot edition for the new repackaged and rejuvenated programme with the intention to expand its scope, duration and participants.

He said, going forward, the competition will be the best intellectual and most sought-after management reality television show in the country.

“It will encourage participants who are endowed with creative and research abilities to hone their skills by conducting independent in-depth research into management related problems with a view to proposing new solutions,” he said.

Jibril added that the competition was established to create a corps of young men and women who would distinguish themselves in conducting studies in different areas of human endeavour with the hope that such propositions would engender all round development.

He said the competition, which presented participants the opportunity to demonstrate their management skills, originality of thought and ability to communicate their ideas logically, seeks to stimulate positive, analytical and professional research writing on management issues relevant to the Nigerian environment while encouraging healthy rivalry.

However, no fewer than 25 young managers have applied for the competition including 20 who participated in an online qualifying test. At the end of the online test, nine persons qualified for the final stage of the competition.
