The Senior Pastor, House on the Rock Churches, Metropolitan Paul Adefarasin has stressed the importance of unity among the Church in Nigeria. The man of God believes it was time for the Church to set aside its differences and come together as one body in Christ.

Speaking at the just concluded “Spirit of Life Conference” with the theme: ‘Emerge,’ Adefarasin said the urgency for all faith communities to be united cannot be compromised, and the fact that the Church should begin to seek for those things that make her a formidable entity because of her unique position as a veritable instrument for change.

He said: “Baptists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians, Methodists and Anglicans, among others, all have something in common. First of all, we all have Jesus Christ as our Redeemer. We also have common aspirations for a better country. We should realise that many of those great nations in the West rose to become powerful and first world countries as a result of revivals and revelation movement.

“I, therefore, believe that we must continue to have centre of conversations because with the intelligence we have in the Church, we should be able to draft road maps for the country’s future and formulate strategies as pathways for our industrialists and public sector personalities, as well as hold true to those values and goals. We cannot do this effectively unless we unite.”

He said: “Part of the strategies and goals of Satan are to divide the people and provoke them to be contending with one another.“We should come together, plan together, strategise together, pray together, love one another and be our brother’s keeper at every level of the Church, particularly at the leadership level as we visit one another, thereby creating the opportunity to wake sleeping giants.”

The Guest Speaker and Bishop of the Potter’s House, an American Bishop, Thomas Dexter Jakes, who ministered on the subject “Face to Face,” admonished Christians to come face to face with God with their dreams and goals, with a view to seeing important things manifesting in their lives and humanity.

He said: “We should ensure we come to reality with what God has for our lives in our land and work towards making them happen, so that we can make changes and achieve our dreams and aspirations,”

He urged the Church to partner with corporations and government in lifting up humanity for their betterment. He also called on government to continue to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, as well as collaborate with the Church, so that lives could be impacted positively.
