The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has appointed Mr. Owolabi Tiwalade Williams as the fourth Chairman of its Ikorodu and District Society as well as executive committees to pilot its affairs.
The executive committees elected include: Oluniyi Odewale as Vice chairman, Lateef Awojobi as General Secretary, Biodun Akinwobi, the Public Relations Officer/Social Secretary, Kafilat Amusa Hassan, Financial secretary, Olusola Akinloye, Treasurer, Samuel Ayeni, Technical Secretary, Favour Oti-Elechi, Assistant General Secretary, among others.
The Chairman, Mr. Owolabi Tiwalade Williams, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN) was the Vice Chairman in 2015. He served as member Training and Education and Membership Committee, he also served as the Protem Financial Secretary of ICAN, Ikorodu and District society. He was the first Technical Secretary and became the vice chairman in November 2015,
He studied Banking at Broadwater College of Banking, England and City Banking College in 1985.He was awarded a certificate by the Institute of chartered Bankers London, England and holds an MBA in Marketing from Lagos State University (LASU); he is presently on final level of University of London, LLB programme.
Williams worked in the Secret Registry of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Powers as Clerical Officer before he joined First Bank Plc, he is a Financial and Management Consultant, Trained Credit Analyst with over 18 years in the banking sector and about seven years in training, audit and consulting, he held position of bank branch manager in five strategic branches of Access bank plc.
He was Head, Corporate Banking Department and Group Head, Oil and Gas and Multilateral Institutions, Secretary Asset and liability committee (ALCO, Management Credit Committee, and Board Credit Committee.He also worked at credit Lyonnais (Commercial bank) Plc. He is on the board of Real Tech engineering services Limited as a financial Director.
Speaking at the investiture, the President, ICAN, Alhaji Isma’ila Muhammadu Zakari, who was represented by the second Deputy Vice President, Mrs. Onome Joy Adewuyi, congratulated the newly elected, charging them to perform their task efficiently.
He said: “they were elected based on their capability, performance and contributions to the institution at the district levels and the community.”The past President, ICAN, Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi, who commended their contributions to the institute, said the institute expects a lot of integrity from the newly appointed and their services to the community and the institute, bringing in new and young members.
The Guest of honour, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba kabiru Adewale Shotobi, commended the institute and its contributions towards Ikorodu and its environs, urging the newly appointed to follow the principles of righteousness and honesty and as well continue to promote the well being of Ikorodu and its residents
