Nigerian youths have been advised to let integrity be their watchword in their dealings with others as a show of their readiness in taking over the mantle of leadership in the country.
The charge was given by the governor, Rotary Club District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo, in Ikeja at the investiture of the 34th District Rotaract Representative (DRR), Titus Ayobamidele Ogunniyi.
Ogunbadejo, who was represented by a past Assistant Governor, Charles Ogunmoyero, observed that Nigerian youths must demonstrate uncommon abilities and show the leaders they are ready to take over from them.
He said: “Let them take the crusade of the #NotTooYoungToRule from the social media and begin to act in ways that we all can have confidence, trust, accountability and respect for them, which will be underscored by integrity, then the sky will be the limit.”
Ogunbadejo, however, warned that if the majority of the youth who are in public service do not portray integrity the country would keep having problem of leadership in the future.
Commenting on the investiture of the new district representative, the governor described Ogunniyi as capable, accountable young man and a goal getter, saying it was not a surprise that he was chosen to lead the district rotaractors.
The new representative, who is expected to take charge of 66 Rotaract clubs in Lagos and Ogun, has declared his resolve to improve the activities of Rotaractors in the district and made Nigerians feel their impact.
